Fruits of My Labors

This is a picture of my office for the next couple of days. Yes, I’m sitting on the patio of my hotel room looking out at the pool. It is a little warm and the glare makes it hard to see the screen in the full sun or I would be at the pool. I am in Phoenix on a working vacation. I am working during the day and visiting with my son and his family in the off times.

I can honestly say I am reaping the fruits of my labors. In the mid-late 90s I was heavily involved in the organization that set the standards for these wireless networks. This hotel offers free Wi-Fi access and of course there is excellent coverage pool side. All those hours of meetings and discussions on what is allowed and what wouldn’t be, how to make the networks secure and how to make it easy for someone to be a User of the technology and not need a degree in electronics to get connected.

It is a day like this that I can see that what I do has a purpose. Well it sure makes my life easier.
