James 1:5 (Amplified Bible)
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
Christians everywhere face many kinds of external trials and internal temptations. When the pressures are great, and we do not know how to cope James says simple, “Ask God.” He assures us that God is not upset by our weaknesses or uncertainty, God unconditionally offers us guidance.
People facing trials often lack wisdom. It is God-given understanding that enables a person to avoid the paths of wickedness and to live a life of righteousness. Here wisdom is understanding the nature and purpose of trials and knowing how to meet them victoriously. Such wisdom is available to the one who will "ask God" for it, not once only, but repeatedly; the promise is that wisdom will be given to him.
