I’m going to let you in on a little secret; Kyle and I have found the perfect holistic approach to heart medicine. Now I’m not all that holistic, my favorite meal is hot dogs so don’t get the wrong impressions. Since Kyle’s little heath opportunity a couple of years ago we both have become more aware of foods that are good for your heart. Tops on his list are Dark Chocolate and Whole Almonds.
FACT 1: Studies have suggested that cocoa or dark chocolate may possess certain beneficial effects on human health. Dark chocolate, with its high cocoa content, is a rich source of the flavonoids epicatechin and gallic acid, which are thought to possess cardio protective properties.
FACT 2: Research further associates almonds in lowering the blood presence of HDLs (high-density lipoproteins) and LDLs (low-density lipoproteins) equally with the statin drug line and can significantly lower heart disease risk.
Those two facts equate to the perfect heart pill being – drum roll please:
Dark Chocolate covered Almonds
One more fact is that because I buy them for him on special occasions such as our anniversary, his birthday, Valentines day, Christmas or any other day that I want to let him know how much I love him they speak to his heart.
So the next time you want Dark Chocolate covered Almonds, go to Monroe and stop by Sweet Escapes and ask for “Heart Pills”, they will know what you mean and probably get a laugh out of it.
