So when does our daily routine become a rut? A routine is something that is followed regularly and often performed without much thought. A good athlete or entertainer will practice and practice repeating a particular task until it becomes routine and they don’t have to think about it. We in our own lives have routines, we routinely go to church, we routinely go to work, and we routinely have meals. Routines are not bad, I really don’t like to have my day-to-day routines disrupted. I personally don’t like it when I miss a meal or have my sleep disrupted.
But when does a routine become a rut. A rut is when you do the same thing all the time and become bored. You catch your self-doing something just to do it and never make any progress. Again as an athlete, they must change or alternate their training routines or their muscles will get bored and not continue to grow. An entertainer must change their routine or people will get bored and not see their show more than once.
What actions in our lives are routine and what actions need to be changed up to prevent them from becoming ruts? Maybe the only thing we need to do is change our perspective so that we see them as routine and that there is a benefit to the routine.
Rut – definition: A grave with the ends kicked out.
