For the past couple of months I have been unable to wear my own shoes. I have been wearing post operation attire to protect my foot as it heals. I am happy to say this week I have been wearing my own shoes. What a feeling – even thought I still have a little pain, the fact that I am in my own shoes is an assurance that I am making progress.
We all want to know that we are making progress that is why we make list. As we cross things off our list and we know we have made progress. It is feeling that we are making a difference and everything is not a waste.
Sometimes in our walk with the Lord we don’t think we are making progress, we feel as if we are just going through the motions and not making progress. Sometimes changes in us come at such a rapid pace and it is obvious that He is changing us. Other times the changes are slow and sure, maybe it is just a time where He is helping us to develop patience and grace, but rest assured He is at work and if we stop and think we will see that we are making progress. Maybe we aren’t so quick to get made, or we are at peace when we don’t get our own way, or maybe when we do get mad we get over it quicker, that is progress.
So remember progress is measured in the little things sometimes and rejoice when you can get back into your own shoes.

Thank you Karen for this post! I too have been waiting for God to work in my life and heal my leg. I know that there is something I need to learn...patience is one of them! I have been battling this for 2 1/2 years, and most days I just go with it. Other days it is a real struggle. Those days I find myself praying more and getting words of wisdom like yours to lift my faith. Thanks again!
